Refer a Client to LB Speech Pathology

I’m Laura Bricknell, a Certified Practising Speech Pathologist working with adults across Melbourne.

I see clients at home, in residential aged care, in the community or by Telehealth. I respond to referrals within one business day and write reports you can use.

Why refer to me

  • Currently accepting new referrals. Mobile across Melbourne, telehealth Australia-wide.

  • Adults only. Communication, swallowing (dysphagia), cognitive-communication, voice and neurodiversity-affirming social communication.

  • Hospital-trained. My background is in acute and rehabilitation settings, including complex dysphagia and VFSS, so I’m comfortable with medically complex clients.

  • Fast turnaround. I respond within one business day and send a written report within one week of assessment.

  • One clinician, start to finish. Your client sees me every time.

Who I see

  • Swallowing difficulties (swallowing assessment)

  • Stroke and brain injury, including aphasia, dysarthria and apraxia (stroke & aphasia)

  • Parkinson’s, MS, PSP, Huntington’s and other progressive conditions (Parkinson’s)

  • Dementia and cognitive-communication changes

  • Voice changes

  • Autistic and ADHD adults seeking neurodiversity-affirming support

For Support Coordinators and Plan Managers.

I work with plan-managed and self-managed NDIS participants. You’ll get a service agreement promptly, and reports written to support plan reassessments and funding requests. More on NDIS speech therapy.

For GPs.

For Medicare rebates, refer under a GP Chronic Condition Management Plan. From 1 July 2025, a named referral to a specific practitioner and the EPC referral form are no longer minimum requirements, so a standard referral letter is fine. I’ll send you a written report after the first and last service, and keep you updated in between if anything changes clinically.

What happens after you refer.

  1. I contact you within one business day to confirm availability.

  2. I send the client (or their nominee) intake paperwork and a service agreement.

  3. Initial assessment at home, in aged care, in the community or by telehealth.

  4. Written report to you within one week of assessment.

For hospital discharge teams.

I know acute and rehab discharge recommendations from the inside. I can see clients at home after discharge to continue swallowing management or communication therapy, and I’ll liaise with community rehab and the GP.

For Support at Home providers and care managers.

Speech pathology falls under Clinical Supports. Your organisation coordinates billing from the client’s Support at Home budget, and I provide clear, practical recommendations your care workers can follow. More on Support at Home.
